About the beauty of Iceland heard all those who are interested in travel. Waterfalls, geysers, volcanoes, icebergs, extraterrestrial landscapes - prepare for unforgettable sensations and do not forget to take the camera! On a comfortable minibus, we will drive through Iceland and visit all of its most interesting natural attractions! A similar independent trip on a rented car will cost you at least 3 times more expensive! Well, after going on a standard tour, you will not see the 10th part of what we will see !!!
Greenland is generally a terra incognita for tourists. After visiting Greece you will enter 0.5% of the inhabitants of the Earth who succeeded in it! But we are not going there for the sake of a tick! Greenland - one of the most beautiful and unusual places on Earth and get to know it, means to expand your horizons, get a new, unusual experience, in all senses of this expression - to leave the comfort zone to become a little better and even wiser.
Route by day
Day 1. Reykjavik
Picking up a group at the airport. Moving to a comfortable camping on a minibus, setting up tents, acquaintance of the group, nakomstvo with Reykjavik. For the rest of the day, we will go through its entire center and see all the interesting things that are in this city, good, the city center is very compact and is only a 20-minute walk from our campsite.
Day 2. The Golden Ring of Iceland
Early rise. This, a very busy day, we will devote to the most popular tourist route of Iceland - the "Golden Ring". Haukadalur Valley of Geysers, Gudfoss Cascade Falls and Tingvetlir National Park & ndash; beautiful places in central Iceland and not see them & ndash; therefore, not to visit this amazing country.
And then we will reach the valley of Landmanalaugar, where we will stop for the night in a local camping. Part of the road to the valley is unpaved, passes through the black lava fields and fords, so get ready for off-road sensations :)
Day 3. Valley Landmannalaugar
Immediately after the breakfast we go to the radial exit to the Blahniukur mountain and to the smoking springs. Here, everyone who has not prepared for the trip and has not seen the photographs, is waiting for a real surprise: the mountains of pink, turquoise, blue, purple, red, yellow, orange and all their shades give the impression of being on another planet. And the floating here and there thermal springs, only strengthen this effect. But that's not all! In the evening, right on the campsite, we are waiting for hot springs, in which you can take a dip and get incredible pleasure.
This day will be remembered for your whole life!
Day 4. Landmannalaugar - the waterfall Selyalandafoss - the waterfall Skogafoss
On this day we will leave for the roundabout, very good quality, the road of Iceland, along which, with small deviations, we will go to the end of our route. And our first stop will be the Selalandfoss waterfall - one of the most famous in Iceland. It can be viewed and photographed not only from the side, but also from the inside, by going along the wet path into the waterfall (and quite soaking up with it, but what can not you do for the stunning photos :)
Next we will come to the Scougafoss waterfall - the most powerful and most famous waterfall in Iceland. In itself, it represents a unique spectacle, but we will not limit ourselves to them only, but let's walk up the river Skogau (which gave the name of the waterfall) and see a whole cascade of other beautiful and unusual waterfalls, and also the incredible beauty of the gorges through which flows river.
Overnight in the camping overlooking the Skougafoss waterfall.
Day 5. Dyrholaey - Reynisfjara - Vik
Having left the waterfall for about 20 kilometers, we turn to the seacoast and after 5 kilometers we will find ourselves in Dirholia - the world of rock arches, fantastic views from a height of 300 meters to the endless black beaches and in the immediate vicinity of the colony of dead ends - ridiculous and very photogenic birds, behind photos which people go to distant islands. Here all in one place!
After exploring Dirholia, we will drive a few more kilometers and find ourselves in the place of Reinisfjara, where you can walk along the black sandy beach, make fantastic pictures of the coast, and also see one of the wonders of the world, very close to the famous Irish "bridge giants" - basaltic rocky protrusions of regular shapes, as if carved into rocks by representatives of an unknown civilization. Scientists have an explanation for this natural phenomenon, but in any case, it's worth it to see!
After driving a few more kilometers and making a stop in the camp of the village of Vic, famous for all the same beaches with black sand, bizarre cliffs of the sea coast, a colony of dead ends on them, as well as a beautiful church on the dais, with a viewing platform which offers a fantastic view of the village and the whole district. We will take care of all these attractions before the evening, and spend the night in the camping - very comfortable and hospitable.
Day 6. Waterfalls, glaciers and icebergs
Early rise - we again have a very busy and interesting day! :)
We leave the camping on the ring road and after about an hour we make the first stop near the Fiadra river to take a stroll and admire the fantastic canyon through which this river flows.
Then we come to the national park of Skaftafel, where we go for a short walk to the Svartifoss waterfall - a usual waterfall for Iceland framed with unusual basalt rocks, prepare dinner at the local camp site, and then make another small walk to the glacial lagoon, where we admire the huge language the glacier of Vantayokudl, Europe's largest glacier.
Our next stop is the iceberg of the icebergs Jokulsarlon - a place fantastic and famous all over the world. Here, all from the same Vantayokudl glacier, ice blocks break off and in the form of the aigbergs along the lagoon with unrealistically beautiful blue water, through a small isthmus, swim into the ocean. There is something to see and photograph, believe me! Those who wish can go on a tour of the lagoon by car-amphibian or a motor boat, but this is not cheap. Perhaps it is even more interesting to walk along the lagoon's shore, watching the icebergs and sea lions playing in the waters of the lagoon, lying on the beach amid pieces of ice thrown ashore. In general, the only problem here is to gather all the participants to go further :) However, this is the last point of our program, so that we can stay in the lagoon until late in the evening. The only thing we need to do this time is to reach the town of Hobn, where we will spend the night in a comfortable camping.
Day 7. Hofn - Akureyri
In the morning we will walk around the town of Hofn, who kindly lodges us for the night, and then make a rather long journey to the city of Akureyri, located on the other - the northern coast of Iceland. This is one of the oldest cities in Iceland and the place of our next trip in a comfortable camping.
However, on the way to Akureyri, we are waiting for the Hengifoss waterfall, the unusual Krafla volcano and Lake Viti, the beautiful Lake Myvatn and the "Black Fortress". Dimmoborgir is a natural landmark, a lava formation that, according to legend, is the gateway to the underworld. All these places are located along our route and we will surely inspect them.
Day 8. Mount Kirkufell - Reykjavik
Today we will return from our trip around Iceland to its capital - Reykjavik, but on the way (again quite long), we will leave the ring freeway to admire the mountain Kirkjufell - the most famous mountain of this country, which is, in fact, its business card. Thousands of photographers from all over the world travel to Iceland every year to take pictures of this mountain, we will look at it as part of our overall program.
Day 9. Blue Lagoon - Airport
After spending the night in the hospitable very lively Reykjavik camping, in the morning we go to one of the most famous sights of Iceland - a natural, but man-ennobled - Blue Lagoon. These are thermal springs with curative white clay and warm blue water at any time of the year, turned into a spa. Those who wish can swim in these sources, and those who do not want to do this will be able to walk around and enjoy the beauty of this interesting place.
Well, after visiting the Blue Lagoon, we go straight to the airport - it is located not far from where we fly where: someone is home, and someone will continue traveling with us to Greenland.
Day 10. Greenland! Ilulissat
We fly to the city of Ilulissat, at the airport which we meet with that part of the group that chose only the Greenland part of our modular tour.
Ilulissat is the third largest city in Greenland with a population of about 4,500 people, located on the shores of the Illulissat fjord, which in 2004 was listed by UNESCO on the World Heritage List. Huge icebergs water is stranded at the mouth of the fjord near the city. These icebergs break away from the Jakobshavn glacier, the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere. And here Knud Rasmussen was born, a well-known polar explorer, who distinguished himself by having passed the northern sea route by dog ??sledding.
Transfer from the airport to the city center we will have... on foot. Walk here a few hundred meters with backpacks along the scenic road - sheer pleasure. Well, a bit of savings on the transfer - they are very expensive here.
We are accommodated in a hotel (there are only four in the city) and spend the rest of the day exploring the city - local market, where you can buy (well, or just gawk, as in our case) the meat of a whale, a walrus, a polar bear and different fish, whose names and appearance are unfamiliar to us, the port, the football stadium that is unusual for our eye, and, of course, embankment - with which you can see the most famous Greenland icebergs. The photos taken here will amaze the imagination of not only your subscribers in Instagram, but also the jury of international photo contests:)
Day 11. Fiord Ilulissat
Trekking along the ice fjord of Ilulissat. Go to the heart of Greenland - the place where all these unusual icebergs are born. The road begins along wooden bridges, but then the bridges end and further the path winds among the stones and stony ravines. It is not easy to follow it, but after the Icelandic tracks this way will not seem very difficult for us.
For the night we put the camp directly on the plateau, finding a suitable place. The weather can be very harsh, so participants must be mentally prepared, that the beauty of the surrounding nature will have to be paid by serious privations in comfort.
Day 12.Fiord of Ilulissat & ndash; city of Ilulissat
All day we go along the fjord, admiring the fantastic views of Greenland and pride ourselves in being literally on the edge of the world. Closer to the evening we finish our tracking around the fjord and return to the cozy hotel of Ilulissat city.
By the way, these places, although considered a place of pilgrimage for tourists in Greenland, meet people on the route of tracking people - big event. The thing is that for Greenland 40-50 tourists a year - this is a pilgrimage:)
Day 13. Kangerlussuaq
Again on foot we go to the airport and make an internal flight to Kangerlussuaq, where immediately from the airport we go to the track to the ice sheet of Greenland - deep into the island. This is a rather difficult hiking route, but during the stay in Iceland and Greenland our organisms will get used to physical loads and we will carry them easily enough, not that in the early days.
All day we will walk along the rugged rivers and fantastic landscapes of the far north. For the night we'll stop at a suitable place, putting tents where we feel most comfortable. Although the comfort in the urban understanding of this word in this track will have to be forgotten -; there will not be campsites with hot showers and beer in the store, and the weather can very badly spoil the mood and turn the already severe northern landscape into an apocalyptic one. But we will manage!
Day 14. The Russell Glacier
Continue our journey and at the end of the day we go out to the Russell Glacier - which is part of the ice sheet of Greenland. On the way, we are waiting for sites like a real desert and a large beautiful lake Aajuitsup Tasia. Here you can often find wild reindeer and hares.
From the glacier flow mighty rivers. In some places, these rivers are compacted by rocks and then they form cascades of waterfalls and grandiose rapids. Not far from one of these places and camp for overnight and rest.
Day 15. The way back from the Russell Glacier
Walking around the glacier and admiring its views, we set off on the return journey. Overnight on the shore of a stormy mountain river.
Day 16. Sugar Loaf Hill Kangerulussuaq
For the day we return to the airport in Kangerlussuaq. On the way, leaving the backpacks at the foot, we will rise to the top of the hill Sugar Loaf, from which a fantastic view of the city of Kangerlussuaak on one side and the Russell glacier are opened & ndash; with another. In the distance, the blue water of the bay is visible.

What is the difficulty of the trip? Will I be able to withstand these loads? What are the limitations?
The pedestrian part of the tour in Iceland is not difficult. We will walk light, the maximum distance of the walking distance is 10 km. in a day. This means that having minimal physical training, you will be able to withstand all field trips without any problems.
The pedestrian part of the tour of Grenlanya is much more difficult. We will go with backpacks, whose average weight for men is 15 - 18 kg., For women 12 - 14 kg. (in order not to be overweight, consult an instructor beforehand and he will tell you with pleasure what you need to take with you on a hike, and what you can easily refuse).
For physical activities, a tour to Greenland is available to almost any healthy person, but in order to overcome it without problems, preliminary preparation is required within two to four weeks. To all who are going to this tour, we recommend in the spring and summer to do physical training. Enough running in the nearest park is enough, but it is better, of course, that it is a comprehensive training combining both aerobic and power loads.
It is very important to know and understand: Iceland and Greenland are northern territories, the weather there does not spoil the warmth and sunny days. The air temperature during the day will not exceed 12 degrees of heat, at night - from 0 to 10 degrees of heat. Rains, winds, fogs - almost guaranteed. Any hiking out can take place in the rain, sometimes strong, you will blot and before coming "to civilization" you will not be able to dry clothes and shoes. In addition, all overnight stays - in tents ! In Iceland - in the campgrounds, where there is a shower (sometimes - for extra money), toilet, kitchen, Wi-Fi. In Greenland, we are supposed to spend the night outside the campgrounds - without any amenities.
If you are pampered or do not fully understand what it means to stay in a tent for a long time, you better refrain from participating in these tours, especially in Greenland! It will be hard and uncomfortable for you and us with you.
Recommendations for clothes and equipment:
Since the weather in Iceland and, especially, in Greenland, is full of surprises, we recommend to go seriously to the selection of clothes and shoes.
For this tour, you should definitely have the following outfits and equipment: hiking waterproof trousers, fleece, trekking boots, hat, thermal underwear, warm sleeping bag (overnight stays can be quite cold), membrane jacket, light down jacket, gloves, trekking sticks, headlamp , personal thermos. Because of the large number of rains, you must also have a raincoat (or other reliable protection from the rain in field conditions) and a protective cover for the backpack.
