In early July, on the home volcanoes of Kamchatka - Avachinsky, Mutnovsky, Gorely, Vilyuchinsky, it is not yet season - there is too much snow, it is difficult to get there. But in the area of Klyuchevskoy cluster of volcanoes, in the Tolbachinsky lobe, a completely different climate is sharply continental and there the season begins in July, but there are practically no people - everyone wants to combine Tolbachik / Klyuchevskoy and home volcanoes, therefore they go at the end of July - in August, when in Kamchatka, there is literally no overcrowding from tourists - tourist camps are packed in large groups, everything is busy in the houses and under the sheds, and to simply cook food on a fire or eat under the roof, you have to wait 2-3 hours. That is why we are planning our trip in early July, when in the vastness of the Tolbachinsky Valley there will be only us and ... virgin, wild, but clean and literally stunning in its scale and beauty nature.

The program of this trip includes an ascent to the Bezymyanny volcano and, to the highest, one of the most active volcanoes in Russia - Klyuchevskaya Sopka. Climbing this volcano requires good weather, so we set off for 3 days, which may have to be spent on a cold high-altitude plateau blown by northern winds in anticipation of good weather (all equipment should be like for a winter hike!). Climbing to the top of Klyuchevskaya Sopka is a difficult and rather dangerous (!) climbing, participants must have experience of climbing 5K+ mountains, and also have a very good understanding of where they are going and the degree of risk that awaits them.

It will be a very, very difficult journey, which can only be done by experienced and strong-minded climbers and hikers, but it's worth it, believe me! Even if you have already been at the seven- and eight-thousanders, Klyuchevskaya Sopka will take its rightful place in your collection of personal victories. Above oneself.

Day 1

Arrival in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Transfer to the city, check into a hotel, get to know the city, sleep off, acclimatize after a long flight and a 9-12-hours time difference.

Day 2

Wake up early, at 8 in the morning we get on a bus and go through the whole of Kamchatka to the village of Kozyrevsk. The road takes about 7 hours, and some of it runs along a dirt road, so the day will be lazy, inactive, but not very easy. Immediately upon arrival in Kozyrevsk, we are loaded into a shift station and thrown into the Kopyto parking lot, from where the hiking, hiking section of the path begins.

But on this day we will arrive late, so we will only have time to put up tents and cook dinner, and then go to bed - adventures await us ahead, difficult but interesting.

Day 3

In the morning, after breakfast, we will make a 9-kilometer trek to the Polyana Edelweiss camp, where there is a canopy, a stream and beautiful surroundings. It will be enough for the first day, especially since there are simply no places with clean water where you can camp - the nearest parking lot is 17 km away.

After setting up our tents and having lunch, we will take a short walk in the picturesque surroundings.

Day 4

Hike breakfast, pack up the camp and set out on a 17-kilometer hike to the foot of the Bezymyanny volcano, where we camp near the house (or in the house, if there is a place) Dam - the former base of volcanologists, which has long been used by tourists for spending the night in bad weather.

Day 5

Early rise, quick breakfast and ascent to the Bezymyanny volcano. Technically, it is not difficult and takes no more than 7-8 hours (including descent), but it is advisable to be at the summit no later than 10 am, since after 11 am almost all peaks are covered with fog.

If the weather is not favorable for the ascent (and this happens very often in Kamchatka - low clouds, fogs and rains are constant companions of hikers here), we will simply walk around the surroundings lightly and have a little rest before the further difficult section of our journey.

Day 6

We will have breakfast, pack up the camp and move towards the Klyuchevskaya volcano. However, today we will not reach it, but we will restrict ourselves to the passage of 17-18 km, having set up camp on the moraine of the glacier. You will have to walk on the glacier in crampons and the path will not be easy, especially if the weather is not good.

Day 7

Another crossing over the glacier, by the end of the day we should reach the Volcanologists pass, where we will camp at the dilapidated house of volcanologists. From here we will start to the top of Klyuchevskaya Sopka and wait for the weather here if it is not good enough for the ascent. And there is no doubt that the weather will be bad - Kamchatka in general and Klyuchevskaya Sopka in particular are famous for bad weather, which prevails here most of the year: low clouds, fogs, rain / snow, hurricane winds. Especially dangerous are the winds, which can easily tear even the strongest tents and make it impossible to do anything. Get ready for challenges!

Days 8-9-10

Climbing Klyuchevskaya Sopka. The ascent itself requires one day, but it is possible only in good weather, so we set aside three days, one of which, according to the actual weather, will be the day of the ascent and two spare. If a miracle happens and we can climb the volcano on the very first day (or on the second), we will leave earlier for Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and spend one or two days on the Pacific Ocean, on the famous Khalaktyrsky beach, where you can surf, or you can just wander on the black sand and enjoy the riot of the natural elements and its scale, which here, on the ocean, are felt to the same full extent as near the great Kamchatka volcanoes.

Participants must be mentally prepared for the failure of the ascent. According to statistics, for one successful ascent there are two unsuccessful ascent attempts! In 99% of cases, this is due to a long period of bad weather - low clouds, fogs, rains and snows, hurricane winds that do not allow us to climb on the designated days, in 1% of cases with high activity of the volcano by the time of our arrival - emissions from the crater lava and a lot of volcanic bombs, which makes the ascent too dangerous.

Days 11 - 12

Descent along the glacier, access to a comfortable (in comparison with the glacier) volcanic plateau and the return road to the Polyana Edelweiss camp.

Day 13

Simple in comparison with everything that happened before, the 9-kilometer passage to the Kopyto parking lot, where we sit down in a shift station and go to the village of Kozyrevsk. There we are waiting for a simple, but after the hike, just a gorgeous hotel and a bathhouse!

Day 14

In the morning we take a bus and go to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky all day. Last night at the hotel.

Day 15

Transfer to the airport and flight home. Goodbye Kamchatka!

How difficult is the trip? Will I be able to withstand these loads? What are the limitations?

This is a very difficult tour! You need serious physical and moral preparation, good personal hiking clothing and equipment, an experience of entry or, at least, categorical mountain or sports trips is required.

We will walk 15 to 28 km per day. on difficult terrain with backpacks, the weight of which for men is 25-30 kg, for women - 20-25 kg. Almost all overnight stays in tents, often in the rain and strong wind, and near Klyuchevskaya Sopka - on ice and / or snow. Part of the path near Klyuchevskaya Sopka is along the glacier, so you will have to go in bundles, be ready!

Keep in mind that climbing Klyuchevskaya Sopka is a more difficult and much more dangerous activity than climbing Elbrus, Mont Blanc or Kilimanjaro! Climbing Klyuchevskaya Sopka is fraught with a risk to life: rockfalls, small avalanches, volcanic bomb emissions, eruption of lava and poisonous gases are possible. The organizers of the ascent will make every effort to ensure the safety of the participants, but cannot guarantee 100% safety, as we are invading an unpredictable and uncontrollable natural element.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, an early departure from the route is possible, the evacuation of the entire group (by the forces of the participants), which was already in 2021, you must be mentally prepared for this too! Evacuation is carried out at the expense of the tour organizer, further stay in Kamchatka, including travel and accommodation (except for the last day included in the tour price) - at the expense of the participants.

When embarking on this journey, you must understand that you are taking a risk and accept the possible consequences of this risk for yourself! This is your decision and your responsibility for your life!

For this tour, you must take with you a set of clothes and equipment for climbing six- and seven-thousandths: a thick down jacket, warm hiking pants (preferably also downy ones), climbing boots or boots for snow and ice tracks for crampons, crampons themselves, an ice ax , harness, respirator, as well as for hiking: a membrane jacket, waterproof hiking pants, trekking boots, two sets of thermal underwear are required, as well as a hat, gloves, warm socks, fleece, sunscreen and sunglasses (for climbing volcanoes). In addition, you will definitely need a backpack for 65 - 90 liters, a water-repellent cover for it, a raincoat, a headlamp, a thermos, a mosquito net, a warm sleeping bag (-10 degrees comfort, no less!), A good rug, rubber croc-type slippers for the transition ford rivers and streams.
