New Zealand is one of the most beautiful places on Earth! It has everything: the ocean, mountains, fjords, vineyards, fabulous hobbit houses, volcanic valleys and thermal springs, luminous caves, unusual animals, modern cities and huge, beautiful beaches. And great roads, excellent service, good conditions for living and traveling! We offer all this to you in a very rich auto sightseeing tour, during which we will go around and walk around, see and photograph a lot of the most interesting things this land has!

This is our second tour in February 2020. If it does not suit you in time or for other reasons, you can watch the program of the first tour from February 2 to February 15, 2020.

Route day by day

1 day. Queenstown

Day of arrival in the city of Queenstown on the South Island, where our journey begins from. Meeting at the airport, accommodation in a cozy hostel * in the very center of the city, if there is time left - walking around the city.

* New Zealand has very good hostels, often they are better than European hotels. Often in the room shower and toilet. Their only drawback is rooms for 4-6-8 people (however, there are rooms for 2 people). However, we try to reserve places so that the whole room is occupied by the members of our group..

2 day. National park Fjordland

In the morning transfer to the national park Fjordland (about 300 km). Upon arrival, we immediately ship to the ship and cruise along the Milford Sound fjord - an event as mandatory for New Zealand as a visit to Hobbiton village. On the way back we will stop in a beautiful place and make a small (about 3 km. One way) track to Lake Marian.

By night, we return to Quistown, to the hostel we already know.

3 day. National park Aoraki/Mount Cook

In the morning we will go on a long journey by car to the Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park. On the way, we are waiting for a huge amount of breathtaking views and we will have to constantly stop to capture them in photos and videos, especially beautiful Lake Pukaki with turquoise water, along which we will go more than an hour.

The pearl of the park is Mount Cook - the highest mountain of New Zealand, and around it are lakes with unreal blue water, snow-white peaks, waterfalls, mountain rivers and suspension bridges over them.

Arriving at the campsite of the national park we will make a small, simple trekking to the mountain to admire it close up, as well as to the stunning landscapes around. Overnight in tents at the campsite.

4 day. Tekapo and Alexandrina Lakes

In the morning a small transfer from the place of our overnight stay to Lake Tekapo and accommodation in a comfortable campsite. Day of rest and enjoyment on the lake with unreal beautifully breezy water. Here you can swim and sunbathe, water-ski, just meditate on the beach among the huge pine trees. After lunch, we will take a trip to the lake Alexandrina, in the vicinity of which we will make a small track, so as not to linger in one place :)

5 day. Christchurch and the Whale Tour

Departure to the city of Christchurch, on which we will make a small, two-hour excursion, and then we go to the town of Kayokoura on an excursion to the whales. In addition to the tour, it's just beautiful here, where there is a walk and what to see. We spend the night in the hotel of this small town.

6 . North Island and the city of Wellington

In the morning we go by car to the ferry to the North Island, we cross over and find ourselves in the city of Wellington - the capital of New Zealand and the second most populous city in the country. The whole afternoon we will dedicate to acquaintance with the sights of this beautiful city, which is nice to just walk, but you can find a lot of activities and more interesting. For example, climb a small mountain and admire beautiful views from above, or visit the Weta film studio where the movie "The Lord of the Rings" and many other equally famous films were made. And spend the night in a cozy hotel.

7 day. Three Sisters Beach and Elefant Rock

In the morning we leave Wellington and drive about 500 km. to the town on the west coast of the North Ustrov, which is called Three Sisters Beach and Elefant Rock - a stunning beautiful beach with black sand, with huge rocks and beautiful colored caves. Here you can spend half the day walking around the district, looking into the caves and doing fantastic pictures.

After that we will drive about 150 km. and find ourselves in the village of Waitomo, where the most famous caves in New Zealand are located. On an excursion to the caves, we do not have time. so just stop for the night in one of the guest houses of the village to go to the caves in the morning ...

8 day. Waitomo Caves

In the morning we go on excursions to the caves. You can visit one of the caves, you can take a three-hour tour of the "combo" and visit several of them at once. The caves here are beautiful and diverse. They have the famous Glow worms (glowing worms) and illuminated stairs and underground rivers on which you will be transported by boat. We choose a tour of taste and wallet, book in advance and in the morning we go on underground adventures. If someone does not want to go down into the caves, then he can just take a walk for his pleasure in the very picturesque surroundings of the village or visit one of his cozy cafes.

After lunch, we will arrive in the city of Hamilton, where we will go for an hour-long walk to the famous Hamilton Gardens - artificially created gardens with stunning landscaping, and stay at the hotel for the night.

9 day. Thermal springs and forests of Rotorua

Rotorua is an interesting place. A large number of thermal springs and other places of volcanic activity are concentrated in and around this town, the study of which we will deal with all this day.

First, we will stop at a Maori village on the outskirts of the city, where the life of the indigenous people of this country is recreated, and this is literally all on the volcano — between the houses and around the village with a large number of geysers, mud craters, hot springs and lakes — all boils, soars, champs and smells of hydrogen sulfide. If you have never been to such places before, it will make a strong impression on you, if you have, then there is still something to see!

Next we will drive about 20 kilometers and swim in the thermal river with hot water. Nothing special, just enjoy it :) And do not forget to take swimsuits for a trip - they will definitely be useful to you here!

A few more kilometers and we will look at the mud volcanic lake (Mud pools), and after it we will come to Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Womderland - a huge volcanic valley with a large number of active craters and lakes with unreal bright and saturated water of various colors. Entrance here is 45 New Zealand dollars, but they are worth the impressions and frames that you get there.

Overnight in the guest house of the town of Rotorua.

10 day. Mount Mounganui Cathedral Cove

On this day we will go to the favorite vacation spot of New Zealanders - the city of Mount Maunganui. Here we will climb the mountain of Meinganui (quite an uncomplicated time track) to admire the beautiful views of the city and the ocean in the rays of the setting sun, wander along the beach, and then go to the Karamandal peninsula. Hot Water Beach is waiting for us there, where at low tide you can dig a hole and it will be filled with unexpectedly hot water - in the village of the same name there is a whole industry for renting spades :)) However, you can don’t dig anything, but just watch others do it, and often without waiting for the tide - it is still a funny sight!

Near the Hot Water Beach is the town of Hahei, from where you can walk to the legendary sights of New Zealand - Cathedral Cove. Here they filmed the film The Chronicles of Narnia, but without this fact the place is very remarkable for its beauty. We will go there the next day early in the morning, and we will spend the evening on the karsivsky beach of the town and spend the night at the local campsite.

11 day. Cathedral Cove, hobbit village, swimming in the ocean and gold mines

We get up early in the morning and go on foot to Cathedral Cove. One and a half hours to go and the road does not constitute any difficulty. Because of this, too many people walk along it and in the daytime at the famous natural landmark in the literal sense of the word do not overflow. An early arrival ensures that we can enjoy the place in peace and quiet, without crowds and fuss.

Then, we return back and by car go to the equally famous Hobbiton village - the Hobbit village, built for the filming of the movie "The Lord of the Rings", and after that became one of the most visited attractions in the world. And although visiting the village is not a cheap pleasure (an entrance ticket costs about $ 70), we will not be able to pass by :)

Then we will go to the Karangahake gorge, where we will drive along the picturesque road, as well as the 1,100-meter tunnel through the mountain, we will see the former gold mines in the rocks with luminous worms, suspension bridges and other interesting mining facilities. If there is a desire of the group and enough time (which is unlikely), you can go to a small track along the gorge and see even more interesting things.

In the evening we will arrive at the Muriwai beach, near which we will stop at a camp in the campsite.

12 day. Muriwai Beach

Early ascent (however, if desired), to go to the colony of booby - funny seabirds on the coast, while there are no tourists there. In the afternoon there will be a lot of people, and early in the morning only the birds, we and the dawn are unforgettable impressions.

Then we return to the campsite, have breakfast and go for a walk / swim / sunbathe on the famous black sand beach - the favorite vacation spot of the Oaklands. If you move further along the beach from the village and car parks, then you will be completely alone on a huge, endless beach, which rolls the ocean waves. For lovers of oneness with nature, feeling just crawly!

Later in the evening we will go by car to the town of Whangarey on the other, east coast of the North Island (the path is not long), where we will stop for the night at a local campsite.

13 day. Waterfalls, 19th century architecture, Ringa Cape and sand dunes

Very busy day! Early in the morning we'll stop at the Whangarei Falls waterfalls (a beautiful place: waterfalls surrounded by fairytale forest), then we will stop at the town of Pahia, where, firstly, there are waterfalls that we will definitely visit, and secondly, you can float on it a couple of hours on the ferry for very modest money in the neighboring town of Russell, which was even the capital of New Zealand for one (!) year (1840 - 1841), and is now famous for its colonial architecture, perfectly preserved from the 19th century.

Then we will drive to the North Point of New Zealand - Cape Reing. This is the place where, according to legend, the souls of the Maoritans (aboriginals of New Zealand) first enter the souls of people and from where they fly to paradise. And here you can see how the waves of the Tasman Sea collide with the waves of the Pacific Ocean. There is an old lighthouse on the cape, and there are fantastic views all around!

The last point of our program today will be huge sand dunes near the cape. Here you can walk on the sand, climb the sandy mountains, or you can rent a board and try yourself in sandboarding. Bright emotions and beautiful photos are just guaranteed here! (unless, of course, the weather does not let you down).

14 day. Auckland

Slowly we return to Auckland, grouping in beautiful places and making farewell shots. In the afternoon walk around Auckland, a farewell dinner.

15 day. Departure home

All good things come to an end. We say goodbye to New Zealand and go to Auckland International Airport to fly home.

What is the difficulty of the trip? Can I handle these loads?

Tracks and mountain climbing, which we will perform during the route, are not difficult even for unprepared people. For the most part, these are short exits (for 1-3 hours) along specially equipped roads and paths with all the necessary infrastructure (toilets, rest areas, fixed rails). From the most difficult track - Tongariro Alpine Crossing, participants who do not feel in themselves the strength to overcome this walking route can refuse, having waited for the group in places where the car will remain and just take a walk through the picturesque surroundings. New Zealand is a very civilized country, so even this expectation will not be boring and will not present any problems either for the group or for individual participants.

Clothing and equipment recommendations

Since we cross New Zealand from the south to the north, we will need both clothes designed for heat and beach rest, as well as clothes protecting from low temperatures, wind and rain.

In addition, you will need hiking clothes / shoes for tracks in the mountains - a membrane jacket, boots, trekking poles, a hat, gloves, thermal underwear - Tongariro has very strong winds. It is also desirable to have a raincoat (in case of heavy rain) and a waterproof cover for a backpack. It is necessary to have sunscreen and sunglasses.

Since several nights during the tour are supposed to be in tents, you need to have a sleeping bag and a rug (it is possible to rent for the duration of the tour by prior arrangement).
