All the exoticism of Cambodia
Author's adventure journey
Travel dates: February 15 - March 1, 2027
For today, April 21, 2026, 8 places from 10 are available on this tour.
This trip is truly unique! It combines learning about Cambodia's history, exploring its ancient and modern architecture, tropical adventures, and relaxing on the white beaches of a paradise island—where else can you find anything like this?! We won't be seeing the country from the window of a tourist bus, where the view is little different from what you see on TV, but we'll be traveling around the country on regular buses, sensing the spirit and atmosphere of this amazing country with every fiber of our being. We'll ride in the back of an open jeep through a virgin tropical forest, and see not only the ancient temples of Angkor (and not just the ones that all the tourists see, but also the remote ones that few ever get to, like the Koh Ker temple complex), but also a city of French colonists in the jungle, abandoned in the middle of the last century. We'll visit the capital of Cambodia— the ancient and no less interesting than everything else here city of Phnom Penh, and finally we will spend several unforgettable days on the white beaches of the tropical island of Koh Rong Sanloem (Rong Sanloem), where true connoisseurs of Cambodian holidays come to relax.

Itinerary day by day:
Bangkok
Meet us at Bangkok Airport, the capital of Thailand, where our exciting journey begins. On the first day, we'll check into our hotel and explore the city, where, rest assured, there's plenty to see!
Bangkok
Since Bangkok is so large and so interesting, we'll dedicate the second day of our trip entirely to exploring it, and no one will feel like it's too long!
The Royal Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Temple of the Golden Buddha, Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Temple of the Dawn, Temple of the Golden Mount, Erawan Museum, Bangkok Art and Cultural Center, and Khao San Road are just a few of the interesting and world-famous sights you can see in Bangkok, some of which we'll definitely visit.
Bangkok - Battambang
In the morning, we take a regular bus to the Cambodian border (approximately three hours). After crossing the border, we board another Cambodian bus and head to Battambang (another two hours) – an incredibly interesting city literally filled with ancient temples, museums, and other tourist attractions.
Battambang
We'll spend the entire day leisurely exploring this amazing city, which lacks so-called "nightlife," and the only evening entertainment is a stroll along the picturesque waterfront. During the day, however, we'll see a fantastic snow-white pagoda with a fascinating history, visit the provincial museum, the impressively beautiful governor's residence, and take a sightseeing tour on Cambodia's only bamboo train, which will take us around the city.
Battambang - Siem Reap
After an early breakfast, we'll board a bus and continue our journey to Siem Reap, near Cambodia's most famous landmarks – the Angkor temples. We'll have time to check into our hotel and drive to the temple complex to watch the sunset – a fascinating spectacle that attracts countless tourists from around the world every day. If you're lucky, the sunset can be truly spectacular and beautiful!
Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom
On the sixth day of our journey, we'll visit and explore in detail two of the most famous and, arguably, most impressive ancient temples in the world – Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. You have to see them at least once in your life! But even if you've been here before, a return visit won't be boring – the temple grounds are so vast that it's simply impossible to see everything in one or two visits! Each time you come here, you can discover new things.
Koh Ker Temples
On this day, we'll deviate from the standard tourist routes and head to remote temples located more than 100 kilometers from the main temples of Angkor! The sheer size of Koh Ker is astounding. The pyramid, called Prang, located west of the main temple, Thorn Prasat, stands 36 meters tall and is the tallest pyramid ever built by the Khmers. The Prasat temple itself is one of the largest brick Khmer sanctuaries.
Phnom Penh
We'll spend the entire day exploring this beautiful and fascinating city. The Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, Wat Botum, and the National Museum of Cambodia—that's probably all we'll see. But believe me, it'll be enough to make this colorful and unusual Asian city a memorable experience for the rest of your life.
Phnom Penh - Kampot
In the morning, we'll take a bus to the city with the funny-sounding name of Kampot. It attracts tourists with its quiet streets lined with French-style houses and mansions inspired by Chinese architecture. There are also several buildings built according to special European designs, such as the governor's house. Upon arrival, we'll definitely stroll through it, but for us, it's primarily a starting point for Bokor National Park, which we'll head to early the next morning.
Bokor National Park
Bokor National Park, officially Preah Monivong National Park, is a 1,581 square kilometer protected area with an elevation of 1,080 meters above sea level. Most of this area is covered in impenetrable jungle and, importantly, remains home to rare animals such as leopards, tigers, elephants, Asiatic black bears, gibbons, and many others. It is also a pristine cradle of tropical fauna. However, don't expect to encounter these exotic animals while climbing the mountain. They don't seek out humans and live primarily in the northern part of the park, which is completely impassable.
However, in any case, there aren't many places left on our planet where you can walk through virgin jungle, amid the cacophony of cicadas and birdsong, where the treetops of the multi-layered jungle shelter the traveler from the midday heat, but at the same time, they conceal many secrets and even more dangers.
Until 1997, Bokor was not marked on Cambodian tourist maps due to the fact that during the final years of the Khmer Rouge war, Bokor was the site of the fiercest fighting. A vast area of the national park was mined. To this day, many of the anti-personnel mines remain undetected throughout the park, making them mortally dangerous. Of course, this doesn't apply to the main route we'll be taking, but you'll agree, this place is worthy of adding to your own adventure collection.
We'll travel through the jungle in the back of a jeep, where two benches are secured, each accommodating 4-5 people. While driving along the road, which can often only be called a road, insects or lizards might fall on you. They're not dangerous, but they can be frightening for impressionable girls. It'll be all the more fun to remember it later :)
On this action-packed day, we'll visit an abandoned French colonial city in the jungle, climb the highest point of the national park, Mount Bokor, see waterfalls, and much, much more! Exotic birds fluttering above your head and the lush tropical landscape all around you are included.
Kampot - Sihanoukville - Koh Rong Sanloem Island
Transfer by bus to the coastal resort town of Sihanoukville. It offers a completely different atmosphere – resort-like and relaxed. However, we won't be staying here long; we'll depart from here by speedboat to a true tropical paradise – Koh Rong Sanloem Island. This is Cambodia's second-largest tourist island – less known and less party-like than the more popular Koh Rong, but it boasts a vast, white beach. True Cambodian vacation experts say it offers a reasonable compromise between a civilized vacation and a relaxing break in the bosom of pristine nature. There are no ATMs or pharmacies here, and the internet is very slow – for three days we'll immerse ourselves in a world of complete relaxation and solitude from city life – a great bonus, we think, before returning to our home metropolis :)
Koh Rong Sanloem
On Koh Rong Sanloem, you can simply swim and sunbathe on the white sand beach, relax in the shade of palm trees or in a cozy bungalow, admiring the gentle pink sunsets in the evenings, or you can go diving and snorkeling, rent a boat for fishing, or take a trip to the uninhabited island of Koh Kun nearby. Everyone will find a vacation to suit their taste!

After breakfast and a little relaxation or swimming, we board a boat and head to the mainland, to the city of Sihanoukville, where we head straight to the airport for our flight to Bangkok. And from there, home.

The trip is straightforward and recommended for anyone who enjoys adventure and active recreation. However, be prepared for the fact that Cambodia is a poor country, and beggars and other "helpers" will be with you almost everywhere. They can be intrusive and not always pleasant. Traveling conditions may be uncomfortable, and unpleasant odors may be encountered during transfers and while hiking. Contact with unpleasant insects and animals (monkeys, snakes, etc.) is possible. While they are generally harmless, caution should be exercised when interacting with them. Your tour organizer will protect you from such dangers, but the tropics are the tropics...
MoreOur journey will take place during the dry season, meaning rain is possible but unlikely. Temperatures during this period range from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. When traveling through the jungle and open spaces, light clothing that covers as much of the skin as possible is recommended to avoid sunburn and contact with the leaves and branches of tropical plants, many of which are prickly, and poisonous plants like stinging nettles are also common in the jungle. Closed-toe footwear is also recommended.
