Have you ordered an exotic New Year? Please! What could be more unusual and exotic than celebrating the New Year on a mountain, and not just a simple one, but the highest on the continent, and not just an ordinary one, but an African one?! At the same time, unlike most of any other ascents, we will spend this with increased comfort: overnight stays in houses, each group member will have a personal porter (this is a requirement of the Tanzanian government - they employ the local population), but you can take a box of champagne and pineapples to properly celebrate the New Year! (it’s a joke about pineapples, why do we need them on the mountain? 😀)

Kilimanjaro is not just another mountain, it is an iconic point for climbers all over the world! It is one of the “seven peaks” - the highest points in 7 parts of the world (Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, Australia, Antarctica), occupying an honorable 4th place in height; climbing it is a duty of honor for any climber. And besides, she is simply beautiful! A volcano of almost regular shape with a truncated cone, crowned with a snow-white cap and a huge glacier in the middle of a riot of tropical vegetation - it’s worth seeing not only from below, but also from above - a completely different perspective and different sensations!

We will follow the ascent route, which is considered the simplest and most comfortable, so climbing an almost six-thousander will not be easy (it’s a mountain!), but quite comfortable and as easy as possible for non-professional climbers. And then we will have two days of safari in Tarangire and Ngorongoro national parks. Those who wish, after completing the ascent and safari, can fly to Zanzibar for 2-3-4 days and indulge in the bliss of the warm sea and relaxation, so pleasant after the difficulties of the ascent. In any case, this trip will definitely be memorable for you and will be one of the brightest in your life, I guarantee!

g. Moshi - Camp Mandara

In the morning, a guide with an escort team will arrive at our hotel, meet us and give a briefing, after which we will move to the eastern entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park - Marangu Gate (1860 m). After After a short procedure for obtaining permission to visit the park and registering with the rescue service, the group will begin climbing to the Mandara camp (2700 m). The trekking route involves crossing a tropical forest, where tropical downpours are likely to occur, so it is recommended to have not only a change of clothes, but also raincoats. When we arrive at the camp, the escort team will prepare everything we need and prepare lunch. Along the entire Marangu route we will spend the night in specially equipped huts; they are very simple, but are a good alternative for those who do not want to sleep in tents.

At night, you may experience an uncomfortable feeling from acclimatization: due to a decrease in breathing activity, even less oxygen is supplied than during the day, and given the altitude, the likelihood of nausea and headaches increases significantly. That's why Pay close attention to your condition and contact your guide when the first signs of altitude sickness appear.

Tracking distance: 11 km

Safari in Tarangire National Park

In the morning, a car will pick us up at the hotel and take us to the gates of Tarangire National Park. The park is famous for its huge baobab trees, the Tarangire River, elephants, giraffes and many other animals. In vehicles specially equipped for safari, we will drive through the expanses of the park, observing and photographing the life of animals in their wild habitat. After lunch in the picnic area we will continue our safari until sunset. In the evening, the car will take us to Karatu, where we will stay at a hotel and have dinner.

Safari in Ngorongoro National Park

Early rise, breakfast. At 6:30 am we leave for the safari. Ngorongoro is a caldera of a frozen volcano, a plain, there are many rhinoceroses, flamingos, a high chance of meeting leopards, a lake with hippos, where we will have a picnic. After a short (about 40 minutes) transfer to the park gate, the first thing we do is take a jeep to the crater observation deck. From here you have a breathtaking view of the entire huge crater. Afterwards we go down to the plain of the crater and spend the whole day until the evening driving around its expanses, watching the animals, which are often very close - literally at arm's length!

The difficulty of the climb is quite high. From a technical point of view, it does not present any difficulty, you don’t even need crampons here, in fact, it’s just a track along a path - flatter than on Elbrus, but the height (5895 m) increases the difficulty significantly and places high demands on your physical condition and endurance. If you have not previously climbed 3, 4, 5 thousand meters, most likely, this tour is not for you. If you have already been to Elbrus, Ararat, Damavand, Belukha, Klyuchevskaya Sopka or other mountains of similar height and difficulty, you will be able to climb this climb!

If you are not an athlete and do not regularly engage in sports, it is recommended that you first (2-3 months before travel) improve your physical fitness, walk and/or run more, and do endurance exercises. Don't know how? Contact me and I will create an individual training program for you! (free during the tour)

More

Unlike, for example, climbing Elbrus, you don’t need special mountain boots and crampons on Kilimanjaro, just good trekking boots.

In addition, you will need: a warm puffer jacket (you can rent it on the spot if you don’t want to carry extra cargo with you), trekking pants, thermal underwear, a hat and warm gloves or mittens, trekking poles, sunglasses (required!) , a pair of fleeces, a backpack of 70 - 90 liters (the porter will wear it), a small backpack (water, snack, camera) of 20-30 liters, which you will carry yourself, a raincoat (downpours are possible in the lower part of the trek), the mood to conquer your weaknesses and fears on the way to the top.

For safari and travel before/after the climb, you need summer hiking clothes: shorts or light pants, T-shirts, sandals, hats and, of course, sunscreen.

Russians need a visa to enter Tanzania. It can be issued online or upon arrival, in both cases it costs $50 and is valid for 90 days. Yellow fever or malaria vaccination certificates are not required to enter Tanzania.

All air tickets are purchased by participants themselves! Now it has become possible again - purchasing tickets through aggregators for rubles with payment using Russian bank cards. The travel organizer will advise each participant in detail about the possibilities and options for purchasing tickets, but the responsibility for their purchase lies with the participants.

It is best to have money in cash dollars or euros, it is advisable to have as many small bills as possible. Cards of international payment systems are not accepted everywhere; in many places an additional commission is charged when paying by card.
